I scribbled feverishly as Erik listed out the nine types of mini breads in my basket, pointing to each bite-sized sourdough piece as he described them. “Håkan has been baking them himself for the last 15 years. Enjoy.” Erik adds before giving me a polite nod and heading off to other business.

I was here reviewing Thörnströms Kök, a highly respected Gothenburg culinary fixture run by Chef Håkan Thörnström. Curiosity led me right behind the scenes into his kitchen.

I wanted to see who was responsible for sending out delicious bite-sized appetizers and desserts a quarter the size of my Nikon lens cap which left me craving more.

Full disclosure – I was in Gothenburg on assignment, lest you think I flit around Michelin-starred restaurants on a daily basis. Special thanks to Chef Håkan Thörnström and his staff for their hospitality.
