The last few months have been quite the blur and dear readers who follow my blog have noticed I’ve been posting sparingly. Mostly because I was working on deadlines and assignments but also because I was clearing my plate and reconsolidating my workload to make space for our new addition – a healthy and beautiful baby boy.
The last week has moved by so slowly as I settle into this new phase yet again and this time around, it’s been so much more relaxing and natural. I looked at my to-do list, pondered it for a few minutes, and pretty much deleted about two-thirds of the items I’d feverishly scribbled down at some point during the summer.
They weren’t as important as I’d initially convinced myself they were. They had been unreasonably self-imposed.
Now with a pared down to-do list and continuing on my quest to keep working smarter, not harder, my freelancing garden is slowly becoming weed-free. I’ve been pulling and uprooting and replanting with a lot more confidence that I’m now sowing what I need to be sowing with the soil I have to work with.
Looking forward to sharing a couple articles that will be appearing in print later this autumn including a major five-page photo essay spread. Will continue to load thousands of photos into both my imagebank and the NGC collection as well as keep ramping up on Slow Travel Stockholm.
I’ll also be participating in an October daily blogging challenge to breathe new life back into my blog – from longer narratives and short thought snippets to photo essays and single photo postcards. I do enjoy monthly challenges and will probably try to do them more often based around themes or a set of sentiments.
Really, the goal isn’t to add extra pressure on myself but rather, to find daily moments, thought processes, travel snippets, stories, and favorite photos to share and get myself into some type of consistent routine in various aspects of my life – both online and offline.
Right now, I’m feeling quite euphoric in so many ways.

Congratulations to you and your husband on your new baby. Wishing you all many happy blessings together! :O)
Thanks so much Monica! 🙂

Oh, a *baby*! Congratulations. That’s the most important work right there. The rest will settle in around the edges. So happy for you.
Thanks so much! So true 🙂
So happy to hear you sounding so relaxed! And every time you mention working smarter it reminds me to tackle my to do list with different eyes. We are mid school holidays at the moment which has its own set of challenges with the work juggle but it’s all worth it. Look forward to seeing your October posts. xxx
I hear you Amanda! Here’s to working smarter while focusing more time on the most important people in our lives 🙂
