Up next on my travel radar is another return trip to Germany – a country I’ve explored multiple times. From Munich to Neuschwanstein, Dusseldorf to Solingen, Frankfurt to Stuttgart, vibrant and dynamic Berlin as well as other towns in between. However this will be my first time in its northwestern region in the port city of Hamburg plus a side trip to Bremen. I’ll be traveling as a guest of the German National Tourism Board to be a part of its #JoinGermanTradition campaign.
In Hamburg, I’ll be focusing on the city’s culinary scene (eating my way through various districts) including a food tour, checking out some traditional German restaurants, and exploring its historic fish market where I hope to create images as part of my ongoing Fishmongers project. My focus in Bremen would be history so I will be doing some historic tours of the city and learning about any intrinsic traditions and past roles as they relate to the region.
In addition, I will also be attending the Social Travel Summit. Here is the official press release (in Swedish).

I’ll be sharing snippets and photos on my Facebook page, Geotraveler’s Niche, as well as on Twitter under @LolaAkinmade. I’ll also be putting up a handful of picture puzzles on my Instagram feed too. If you haven’t seen my creative puzzle project yet, definitely check it out on a smartphone or smart device.
If you’ve got any tips for Hamburg especially around gastronomy and food lifestyles, I would absolutely love to hear them.

Oh is so much miss the German pretzels and cuisine. I have had the pleasure of visiting Germany twice, once in 1975 and then again in 1996 with my mom. She was born in a little town called Wörrstadt. I miss the fresh rolls everyday and the pastries. Enjoy your visit Lola.
Didn’t know your mom was German. So cool! Been definitely eating my way through Hamburg. You can see the tweets here – http://www.twitter.com/LolaAkinmade
Yes, she meet my dad while he was stationed in Germany in the American Army. My dad use to run the big machines to help build the soccer fields. I will take a look at your tweets.
So sweet!
I look forward to following your journey around Germany. So exciting! And if you do get a chance to come to Berlin, be sure to let me know LOL!
Absolutely Victoria! Will let you know. This time around, I’ll only be in Hamburg and Bremen.
