Texas Dining in Pictures

A quick weekend getaway to Houston to see family also meant indulging in the finest local grub Texas had to offer.

We sampled everything from succulent, unpretentious BBQ at backcountry, folding-chair decorated barbecue joint, Rudy’s to sinfully baked fresh bread and juicy Angus steaks at Taste of Texas, Mexican-inspired chow at Escalante’s, and Italian gelato at Paciugo’s Gelateria.

Here are some of our favorite shots…

First time encounter with a “buttermilk” pie. Tastes just like butter and milk.

Grilled vegetables that almost had me contemplating becoming a vegan.

Sizzling fajitas

Best crab and shrimp enchilada ever. Don’t care if the shot doesn’t do it justice. It was on cheesy point.

That black cherry gelato had my name all over it. I had to pay homage with two separate visits in three days.

And finally, 16 ounces of pure unadulterated bliss.

  4. Was just in Dallas and I was overwhelmed by the food portions. Texas is a great place to eat 🙂

  5. Gorgeous, Lola! That tres leches cake is pretty much a perfect representation of the thing itself. You can feel the wetness and the density.

  6. Oh my gosh, perfect lunchtime post for me!! You make Texas so tempting! Food always tempts me 🙂 I’m gonna go make myself a fajita now. How convenient, I have whole wheat wraps in my kitchen…maybe not the real thing with tortilla, but it will do!
