Onboard Tallink Silja – A Swedish Christmas Show

Tallink Silja, one of the largest cruise lines specializing in the Nordics and Baltics (Sweden, Finland, Latvia, and Estonia) invited several of its business partners for a Julbord (Christmas smörgåsbord) onboard its Silja Serenade cruise ship and an exclusive show with special guest artist, Danny Saucedo. Think Sweden’s own Justin Timberlake.

The set started off with Soulmakers, a funky soul band reminiscent of 1960s old school Motown which played tons of foot-tapping oldies from the likes of The Four Tops and The Temptations.

Next up was the infectious energy and talent of Kristian and Mikael from Hallå hela pressen, a “schlager” (pop) band which covers a lot of popular tunes from Eurovision, Melodifestivalen (Sweden’s own music competition to pick its rep at Eurovision), as well as other pop and Christmas songs. Ending in style was Danny Saucedo with some of his most popular songs as well.

Sitting in the very first row meant not only did I get really close shots, but I also got to interact with the artists as well. From them hopping up on my table to them flexing and posing for my camera. All in good fun.

I’ll be writing more about the typical Swedish julbord and what it entails over on Slow Travel Stockholm, but in the meantime, I wanted to take you along through photos.
