That was how Dennis introduced himself as we invaded his aromatic spice stall at the Indian spice market in Durban. We were instantly drawn to towering mounds of red, orange, yellow, and green spices and decided to use his storefront in the vignette we were currently filming.
Between takes, we dug into various flavors; taste-testing rice spice, Nando’s spice, collectively nodding “yum!” at KFC spice while cracking up at “Mother-in-law Extermintor” spice – a potent flavor I presume will be sorely felt by anyone who inhales it.
Gracious, kind, warm, and inviting, Dennis was definitely no menace and I left with three bags of spices.
I’m currently in South Africa filming “Through the Lens” in partnership with South African Tourism and National Geographic Channel. Read more about this exciting project.

@Remi (Mom) – Thanks 🙂
The display of the spices depicts same African way of marketing; seeing and tasting is best option for patronage. Good pictures.
