I’m super excited about my first exhibition in Sweden and to announce that my fine art photography will be represented by Galleri Duerr in the Nordics. I can’t wait to work more with powerhouses Deborah, Lotte, and Ulrika to help me navigate the art world in this region and to learn as much as I can from them. From picking the right types of frames to the best photo papers that would elevate my work as well as estimating their worth. I’ve got so much to learn.
Galleri Duerr has an exhibition program that combines painting, sculpture, photography and design. The gallery shows both new and established artists, Swedish and international, as well as developing a successful cooperation with guest curators. You can read my interview with Deborah Duerr over on Slow Travel Stockholm talking about Stockholm’s art scene.
The first series I’m exhibiting through them is called Chasing Light. As photographers, we’re slaves to and obsessed with light. The way it flows; the way it morphs a scene from ordinary to extraordinary. This series is curated from my travels all over the world and they depict various moments in natural light that have stuck with me.
Galleri Duerr has an exciting line-up of exhibitions coming up soon and the first two I’ll be involved in right away are listed below.
FEBRUARY 17-21 – ANTIKMÄSSAN – Group Exhibition
MARS 16 – APRIL 25 – LOLA AKINMADE – SCANDINAVIAN PHOTO – Solo Exhibition
Some of you may not know this but I used to be an oil painter and cartoonist. In the early to mid 2000s, I had a couple exhibitions while living in the US but as you can see from the list below, my last exhibition as an artist was in 2007. Since then, I’ve specialized in mostly editorial and some photojournalism work.
So I’m estastic to be able to show off my more creative side once more through photography exhibitions.
