How would you describe your style of photography?

Images not only capture moments in time but also evoke emotions that allow the audience to relive memories for a lifetime. As a photographer, I enjoy leveraging my creativity by seeking out angles and lighting that capture the essence of the subject matter, whether a beautiful landscape, bustling city scene, or heartfelt couple.

Can you share the backstories behind these two photos?

Visiting Paris was always a dream of mine and I was afforded the opportunity to travel abroad to Germany with work. On my time off during the weekend, I decided to take the train to Paris alone, something I wouldn’t normally do, but I couldn’t allow the opportunity to pass me by.

I don’t know any French, but with the help of strangers, I made my way through Paris by subway to the Eiffel Tower. I was so overjoyed to see it in person, that I was not looking down as I walked, slipped and fell on stair steps leading down to the view. I didn’t let that stop me, I captured this photo soon after.

I love viewing beautiful scenery and St. Lucia provided the best of both worlds with spectacular ocean and mountain views. The colorful town added life to the scene which made for an exhilarating experience in person.

I printed this photo on canvas and display it in my home to relive the day every time I see it.

What are your dreams as a photographer?

I love traveling the world, learning new cultures, and capturing special moments between clients. A goal of mine is to be able to successfully continue doing so by supporting myself and family financially with the ability to share my love with others via publications, galleries, books, for example.

I feel that photos can tell a story without saying one word, and I hope that my work has a profound impact on the viewer.

The “Snapshot” series are mini interviews with fellow black travel photographers to inspire others and myself. As I’ve navigated the world of travel photography over the last few years, I’ve found very few fellow photographers of color who are also doing this professionally with a heavy focus on travel documentary. So this inspirational resource of professional travel photographers of color is a way for people to always find us. Please get in touch if you’d like to be featured or know of others to feature.
