  • Thoughts on alignment in action and lucid dreams 🙏🏽 In addition to being a travel writer, I am also an author and novelist penning several books and four novels in which my stunning city #Stockholm feels like such a tangible character in itself. Thoughts on alignment in action and lucid dreams 🙏🏽 In addition to being a travel writer, I am also an author and novelist penning several books and four novels in which my stunning city #Stockholm feels like such a tangible character in itself. For years, many readers around the world have mentioned how much they would love to experience the city through my characters. See the places they walked through and lived. Eat the foods they did. And see Stockholm in a fresher, more modern light. A city so deeply multifaceted and complex as it is aesthetically breathtaking. After over a year of planning – from ideation and conceptualizing to scripting and execution – in partnership with @xperiencesthlm and @afrosvenskarnas_riksorg, I am beyond thrilled to officially expand literary tourism in #Sweden with the official launch of our Stockholm Book Tour Club #StockholmBookTour (LINK IN PROFILE) For our inauguration, we flew in nine (9) influential voices within the UK publishing and book space scene to be the very first to launch and preview this epic experience: @cultofbooks @readwithkapz @elliejnewton / @thetroubleclub @sivanreads @thecandidbookclub @jotheblackbookworm @whatsarahreadnext @afuathescot @queenchristinawriter We were welcomed by British Ambassador Samantha Job at The British Residence @ukinsweden with a wonderful afternoon tea. They were also given Stockholm Keys of Honour to explore most of the city’s attractions for free and treated to a wonderful lunch hosted by @visitstockholm at @vaudevillestockholm. Other launch partners included @theqavebyafriqana, the first and only Nigerian restaurant in Stockholm, @east__restaurant, @visitsweden for sponsoring 2 journalist flights alongside my own company, @geotravelermedia, and Visit Stockholm for covering all local transport including @ArlandaExpress tickets. Based on Eric Magassa's @ericmagassa exhibition "Heartbeat/Drumbeat" at Örebro Konsthall, you have the chance to learn more about the theme of interaction between contemporary art and literature. Lolá Ákínmádé Åkerström is a best-selling author, sought-after speaker and award-winning photographer, based in Stockholm, whose stories have touched readers all over the world. She is behind the travel book “Due North”, the best-selling book “LAGOM: The Swedish Secret of Living Well”, translated into 18 languages, and the internationally acclaimed novel “In Every Mirror She’s Black”. This spring, Lolá Ákínmádé’s first standalone novel, Bitter Honey, was released. A gripping novel that spans four decades and three continents, where a mother-daughter relationship is at the center. Through their eyes, Ákínmádé explores themes such as resilience, relationships and the profound power of fully wearing your skin and creating your own place in the world.
