No matter how often one gets published, there’s always a thrill that comes with seeing one’s work in print. I reckon that’s how solo authors feel every time they see their names on a hardback. I currrently have an eight-page photo spread on the towns of Kotor and Budva in Montenegro in the April 2015 issue of National Geographic Traveller (UK Edition) which is currently on newsstands now.
Be sure to pick up a copy!
It’s especially sweet because in 2013, Montenegro was one of the five places I’ve always wanted to go but hadn’t visited at the time so it was exciting to explore it a few months later. Here is an excerpt from that post:
My draw to the Balkans seems merely superficial. I’ve yet to see a bad landscape picture from the region and as a photographer, I want to explore it through my lens. More importantly, talk about a richly complex and dark history with bright glimmers of hope and that ever enduring story of survival. I do have friends mostly from Croatia and parts of the former Yugoslavia, and their personal stories and family histories intrigue me. There’s something resilient yet delicate (in a good way) about Montenegro and I want to experience it myself.

Thanks Susan!
Great job Lola! I also saw a photo by you on the National Geographic presentation at Vildmarksmässan yesterday. A photo of Nordic lights 🙂
Tack så mycket Marina! Vad kul! I had no idea.
Wow! Congratulations Lola! This is so exciting for you. Keep up the good work. 🙂
Thanks so much for your support over the years. You’re amazing Monica!
hahaha…has it been years already?! You’re welcome. Thank you for taking me around the World through your eyes! 🙂
Time does fly, doesn’t it?!
It sure does! It is funny back when you were writing your blog for the The Local did you ever think you would be published like you have been as of late? You probably thought when that assignment ended you weren’t sure what would happen and look at you now! 🙂
I know and it’s definitely a lesson for me in trusting God, stepping out in faith, and knowing He’ll have a net ready to catch me when I fall. Sometimes we just have to leap because we’ll never be 100% ready in life.
Congratulations!
Thanks Yoneco!
Great photos!
Thanks Damon!
