  • Two weeks ago, during a packed event for the South African book community, I was asked by one of my wonderful book fans when I will start writing about (in my words) Black women frolicking through fields of butterflies. I promised her that I would. But as long as there are still themes we haven't explored enough in fiction, I will keep bringing those to the fore. Barely two weeks later, at least nine (9) women have been found dead in a span of days sparking renewed fear and a global outcry on violence against women - https://lnkd.in/eCewSzH2 I had been planning an indulgent post filled with gratitude about just how incredible the book tour in collaboration with @jonathanballpublishers x @glamour_sa, and @openbookfest Book Festival (it was amazing!) but in light of this heartbreaking news against women coming out of South Africa on the heels of a book tour specifically highlighting the plight of women, I will share a summary much later down the line. Two weeks ago, during a packed event for the South African book community, I was asked by one of my wonderful book fans when I will start writing about (in my words) Black women frolicking through fields of butterflies. I promised her that I would. But as long as there are still themes we haven't explored enough in fiction, I will keep bringing those to the fore.
