Postcard: Walking the walls of Kalmar Castle #NaPhoPoMo

Lola_Akerstrom_Kalmar13

As part of National Photo Posting Month (#NaPhoPoMo), I’ll try to share a daily photo (postcard) for the month of November alongside my regular blog musings. This month, I’ll be focusing and sharing photos from my own backyard – Sweden.

Located in southeast Sweden in the Småland region, the beautiful Kalmar slott (Kalmar Castle) has a history that dates back to about 800 years when it was still a medieval castle. In the 16th century, Kalmar Castle was redesigned by Swedish kings Gustav, Erik XIV and Johan III  and converted into the Renaissance palace which stands today.
