  • When powerhouse @lesliezemeckis announced the inaugural @sb_literary_festival, I knew I had to come. From my debut @ineverymirror to featuring my current novel @bitterhoneybook in the @montecitojournal, she has always been an incredible champion and kind supporter of my work. 💕🌟 So I flew in from Sweden to experience one of the most joy-filled weekends of my literary career. The energy was vibrant, warm, and peaceful. All my fellow authors were kind, generous, and delightful. Hugs, laughs, and soul chats were shared. And I’ve left with new friends 🩵🤍 I sat on a panel about identity moderated by Heather alongside Byron and Christina, and I taught a workshop on how to write fiction like a travel writer. And to have BITTER HONEY be awarded the Contemporary Fiction of the Year was an absolute blessing. A book I poured everything into. Thank you! 💙🧡 This is the blue ocean of creativity I always seek out. Where I can learn from fellow trailblazers while expanding too. That vision birthed ÅFRÖSWÈ̩DÉ̩ @theafroswede Now thanks to an Opstart Idea pilot grant from the Nordic Culture Fund @nordiskkulturfond, I am thrilled to announce that this visual storytelling project will be expanding across the Nordics as ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC - @theafronordic.official Inspired by the ÅFRÖSWÈ̩DÉ̩ photography project which was shortlisted for the @globalpeacephotoaward, ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC visualizes and celebrates what integration feels like, when we can seamlessly blend all facets of our identities without having to choose one or the other. I am grateful to announce our first local community partners - @diversify.global in Norway and @finnishafricansociety / @studiopeee in Finland - as we continue to bridge and connect the Afro-Nordic diaspora in this visual celebration. When powerhouse @lesliezemeckis announced the inaugural @sb_literary_festival, I knew I had to come. From my debut @ineverymirror to featuring my current novel @bitterhoneybook in the @montecitojournal, she has always been an incredible champion and kind supporter of my work. 💕🌟 So I flew in from Sweden to experience one of the most joy-filled weekends of my literary career. The energy was vibrant, warm, and peaceful. All my fellow authors were kind, generous, and delightful. Hugs, laughs, and soul chats were shared. And I’ve left with new friends 🩵🤍 I sat on a panel about identity moderated by Heather alongside Byron and Christina, and I taught a workshop on how to write fiction like a travel writer. That vision birthed ÅFRÖSWÈ̩DÉ̩ @theafroswede Now thanks to an Opstart Idea pilot grant from the Nordic Culture Fund @nordiskkulturfond, I am thrilled to announce that this visual storytelling project will be expanding across the Nordics as ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC - @theafronordic.official Inspired by the ÅFRÖSWÈ̩DÉ̩ photography project which was shortlisted for the @globalpeacephotoaward, ÅFRÖNỌ̀RDÍC visualizes and celebrates what integration feels like, when we can seamlessly blend all facets of our identities without having to choose one or the other. I am grateful to announce our first local community partners - @diversify.global in Norway and @finnishafricansociety / @studiopeee in Finland - as we continue to bridge and connect the Afro-Nordic diaspora in this visual celebration.
